2011 Masters Tickets- The Par 3 Tournament
25. July 2010 by Tee It Up Pro Shop.
In 1960 Clifford Roberts started the Par 3 tournament as a way of keeping competitors relaxed before the event starts the next day. Some players take this event seriously whilst others use it as a relaxing afternoon of golf before the tournament proper. The par 3 tournament is seen as a celebration of masters folklore, all the legends gather to participate in this event. Have you considered getting 2011 Masters tickets? Did you know you can get tickets to the par 3 tournament? Let’s discuss what makes the par 3 tournament so great.
The holes
This is a nine hole par 3 course set out on land to the east of the original course. The layout incorporates many lakes and ponds and all holes range in distance between the short second at 70 yards right through to the sixth, the longest at 140 yards. The ground staff have the par 3 course in pristine condition, exactly the same as the real course. These greens are very undulating, difficult to putt but with one advantage: most greens have a large tier in them where the ball will funnel to the hole. Each year at least one hole in one is recorded due to the skill of the player and the design of the green. This provides a thrill to patrons and competitors alike.
The caddies
The par 3 tournament has turned into a family affair. The usual caddies have been given the afternoon off and sons, grandsons, daughters and grandaughters are used as caddies. They usually wear caddy overalls that are too big and carry mini carry bags for their father or grandfather. The real thrill and entertainment comes when they are called into action. The young caddies are usually asked to hit shots across the pond and onto the green. Even the smallest caddies are given the opportunity to putt the ball out and convert the tee shots of their player with full sized putters. The crowd enjoys the show, many youngsters show they have a future in the game by hitting quality shots and holing putts.
The myth (curse?)
Since the par 3 tournament has been played, no player has won the par 3 tournament on the Wednesday and gone on to win the tournament. Many of the games best players have claimed victory in the par 3 tournament. The curse is now 50 years old and still to be lifted.

Tiger Woods returns to Masters Golf Tournament 2010
29. March 2010 by Tee It Up Pro Shop.
“He’s baaack!” Tiger Woods has announced he will be a part of the Masters Golf Tournament 2010, a privilege he holds as a former Augusta National champion. It was always a matter of time before he would return. And considering how tightly controlled media coverage is at that elite golf event – and how fruitless it will be for the likes of TMZ to use short term loans to try to crash the party – he won’t have to field too many uncomfortable questions. They’ll have to be content to wait for when Woods feels up to talking. For now, enjoy Tiger Woods’ return. Read the rest of this entry »
The Lates in Wonderful Golf Attire

The rainy US Open just wrapped up and the golf was splendid. I was really pulling for Phil Mickelson, he was obviously the sentimental favorite and for obvious reason. It was a record fifth time he finished 2nd at the US Open, I guess that doesn’t make him feel better. When the second place check clears in his bank account, he may feel a little bit okay about it. Seeing David Duval back in action was pretty cool too. The one thing I really hated about him was those stupid Oakley sunglasses he used to wear. The ones redneck hicks on beaches everywhere were wearing. He looked like an idiot in those things, but everyone did.
I was glad to see him lose those bad boys.
I was watching Phil play and he and I have a few things in common; we are both left handed and both built a little frumpy. (Actually I am a lot frumpy, but Phil is catching up). I noticed Phil sporting a pair of pin striped pants as if he was playing for the Yankees. I know they say stripes are thinning, but for Phil they definitely were not. He didn’t look so hot. Then there is John Daly. He was at that golf tournament a few weeks back and he wore these plaid pants that were about 14 different bright (and I mean bright) colors. It looked like he woke up in the morning and threw up the 14 pairs of pants he ate the night before and sewed them back together.
He looked horrible.
All these young kids in golf seem to be wearing bright, bright colors as well. It’s as if they are playing a game against one another to see who can dress the most outlandish. “Oh, this is the worst-looking hat I ever saw. What, when you buy a hat like this I bet you get a free bowl of soup, huh?”If I showed up one day to a golf outing wearing a fluorescent green Nike shirt and pleated white pants with a crease in them, my friends would throw mud on me. I would be clean for about 15 seconds. My buddy Brian would squirt ketchup on my pants or something. (I actually have white pants at home that I have never worn, strictly for this reason.)
These guys get away with it, because you always could dress crazy in golf. Remember the hat that Judge Smails wore? That was in the 1980’s and it would be a huge hit on the PGA tour today. I think that is the reason that Tiger Woods is head and shoulders above the rest of the field. I have never seen him not dressed conservatively. The craziest he dresses is in a red Nike shirt, and that is when he is all business on Sundays. And he is going up against 87 people wearing plaid pants, knickers, stripped pants and pink shirts. They don’t stand a chance, but hey, at least they look good on television.

Tiger’s Win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational
9. April 2009 by Tee It Up Pro Shop.
By Jim Nettleton
It had been a long layoff and a long victory drought for the world’s number one player. Of course, that drought was not due to any loss of ability or desire. The knee surgery had dictated that Tiger Woods lay low for an extended time in order to recover completely.
But, after two previous starts that showed the rust brought on by lack of tournament competition for the better part of a year, Tiger got it back together in time to once again win a tournament that he’s dominated over the years. He’s won that event an incredible 6 times and, with that trophy, chalked up his 66th career win, a total that boggles the mind given the current state of competition in professional golf. And it places him in the very top echelon of the games history, with only Jack Nicklaus, with 73 career victories and Sam Snead with 82 ahead of him.
At 33 years of age, Tiger Woods has many years of professional golf ahead of him, barring injuries. And given the kind of statistics he’s routinely amassed during his relatively brief career, it would seem that no established mark is too far away for him to achieve. With 14 major titles under his belt, he is just 4 behind the record total of Jack Nicklaus, who holds 18 major titles. For any other player, saying ‘only 4 behind’ would be bordering on being humorous. The vast majority of players never win 4 major titles in their entire careers, but when we’re talking about Tiger, all bets are off.
Bear in mind that he’s only been on tour since 1997. This is his twelfth year. That means he’s averaged 5.5 wins a year and better than 1 major a year during that time. One also has to take into consideration layoffs during that period for injuries and a couple of major swing changes. Assuming the same numbers over the next 7 years he could theoretically pile up some 35 more wins and 7 more majors. That total is stunning, true, but it could happen. Even dropping the bar considerably, say to an average of 3 wins a year and just 5 total majors would give him a total of 87 wins and 19 majors.
Obviously, we’ll have to see what happens. But it’s fun to conjecture and it sure is fun to watch the man who is arguably the best player in the history of the game perform his wizardry on the golf course.
One thing’s for certain; Tiger’s win at Bay Hill thrust him back to the top of his profession. After watching last year’s US Open win on what was essentially one leg, could anyone doubt his drive and determination? His game, a bit rickety after the long layoff, showed signs of getting back in the groove at Bay Hill. And it probably will only get better.
I felt sorry for Sean O’Hair in that drama after he had played so well before enduring Sunday’s meltdown. But he can take solace in the fact that he wasn’t the first to falter under the palpable pressure of playing against Tiger Woods on the final day.
Once again, the tournament came down to a final putt. Once again, Tiger made it. Did anyone seriously doubt he wouldn’t?
