Golf Tips For Beginners To Get The Basics Right

Because a round of golf can be played by all ages and abilities together through its equitable handicap system it is very popular. It takes approximately 4 hours to play 18 holes but if time or fitness doesn’t permit this there is the option of playing only 9 holes. It’s wonderful exercise and is played in pleasing surroundings.

If you’re a beginner your game will develop and you will play better golf much faster if you make sure you get started with the correct equipment for you and lessons from a professional. You want to get the basics correct from the start.

Here are some golf tips for beginners

Golf Clubs

The first thing you need is a set of golf clubs Selecting which clubs to buy can be tricky as there is such enormous selection to choose from. Talking to a club fitter or golf professional about what sort of clubs would be right for your individual needs as a beginner is a sound idea and could potentially save you money and grief with your game later on. Another option is to buy a half set of clubs to begin with. You will also want to decide whether you will use a trundler or just get a stand bag which you will carry. Make sure the bag you buy has plenty of pockets for clothing, balls etc.

Starting to Play

It’s a great idea to start off with a course of lessons to teach you the basic skills. A lot of golfers start out by playing with friends and family only to find they are having a number of problems. When they finally seek help from a golf professional a number of faults have to be undone before the correct fundamentals of golfing technique can be taught.

Warm Up

Get into the routine of warming up before you play. It is crucial that you do some loosening exercises to warm up your muscles before you go to the tee and hit the first ball.

Golf Rules and Etiquette

Always show consideration towards your fellow players. Be mindful of their safety and take good care of the course. Treat others as you would wish to be treated and leave the course as you would like to find it. Replace your divots, repair your pitch marks and rake the bunkers before you leave them. When someone is taking a shot be considerate and watch the flight of the ball so you can help the player find it. There are numerous rules to be learnt. Always have a rule book in your bag so if you need to you can refer to it. Over time you will learn a lot of the rules and etiquette by playing with experienced players who will explain them to you when situations arise.

Golf is a challenging sport but if you get off to a good start with these golf tips for beginners and your prepared to practice you will soon be enjoying your rounds of golf.
