To play a great game of golf, you need to master your back swing. Golfing experience takes a new dimension when you have mastered this skill. You can still play without a perfect back swing but improving it will greatly improve your overall game just as much as mastering your putting. As you start to work on this area, it is worthwhile to remember that you are not just trying to improve on your power but also your form and distance.

How do you improve your swing? Without a good sturdy posture, you are going to twist at the wrong moment and even potentially have huge problems with not being able to really grasp the club properly. These things together could create hurdles in your attempt in a good back swing. For the right follow through for your swing, your first defensive step is to have the right posture.

If you have any doubts about your stance take a picture with a camera, or ask someone else to take a picture. Compare the correct stance with the picture which shows the way you are standing. If this is not an option for you, look into some lessons, which will allow you to work with someone to truly master your stance.

If for any reason this option is not practical, you could work this out with some one else, so that you could perfect your stance. You need a good set of foundation skills upon you can improve further as you go on. Because it is difficult to assess one self, you could work with a golf instructor for his honest and unbiased views about your stance.

When you are sure that you have the right posture, look into the areas of problems with your grip. You could end up with a poor backhand right from the start if you overextend your grip or hold the club the wrong way.

Sometimes even changing the position of your hands by just a fraction of an inch can provide a dramatic difference in results that you would not be able to otherwise notice.

This is yet another step towards improving your back swing. Usually players make the mistake of backing up and lifting the club at the same moment. This not only destroys movement but creates an off-center hit.

Remember to pull back the club before you lift it off the ground. This is really so simple to do. Your back swing would improve drastically if you make that extra effort to pull the club before lifting.
