Golf Holidays to Get Away From It All

If you have been working too hard for too long and just need to get away and play some golf, you will want to check out golf holidays package vacations from your travel agent. These travel arrangements are often referred to as “stay and play” plans because you stay at a certain hotel and receive rights to play at a certain golf course while you are there.
When making these arrangements, make sure there are not special requirements that will make playing inconvenient or impossible for you. Some of these plans require you to limit your arrival dates and departure dates or have other unacceptable limits so read the fine print.
You can take golf holidays to all sorts of locations depending on your personality and desires. For instance, you can choose to golf in a course located near or in a major city, taking in museums or theatres when not golfing. Or you might choose to visit a golf course in an area of rugged natural beauty such as the mountains. While there, you might take a day to fish instead of golf. Whatever your needs, you can find golf holidays packages to meet your needs.
Are you going to take your own golf clubs with you when you travel on golf holidays? You probably would prefer to use them rather than the clubs that can be rented at the course to which you are travelling. If you choose to take them with you, you will need to think about the arrangements a bit. For instance, do you have a really high quality golf club bag which will protect those expensive golf clubs. If not, you’d better get one. You won’t be able to carry your clubs on if you are flying, so you’ll need a bag that can take airport luggage handling and still protect your clubs. So get a good one.
When picking a destination for golf holidays, pick the course you wish to play on first, and then find out about lodging at hotels, resorts, or stay and play package plans. Make sure the tee times that are set for you when choosing a stay and play package are going to work for you.
People who are staying at a golf course’s own resort generally get first serve when choosing tee times. If it’s really important to you to get the tee time you desire, it may be worth it to you to stay at the resort instead of a less expensive hotel. Either way, you are sure to find refreshment and restoration when taking golf holidays.

Golf - The Ten (more Or Less) Commandments

Those of us who play and love the game of golf know there’s nothing like it. You go to the course with friends on a nice and clear day, and no matter what’s going on at home or school, business or personal life, there’s nothing better than a round of golf to get away. Golf as we know is a known as gentleman’s game. A little common courtesy to keep the golf course in good shape can go a long way toward allowing everyone to enjoy the trip to the links. When you go to a golf course, think of the Golden Rule as one of many golf tips and apply it to the course: Do unto others!
Common courtesy is a big part of the game and players new and old to the game can either learn or remember simple things to keep the course and the game enjoyable to play for everyone. I played golf for fours years on my high school team and played in many games against other schools. The courses were often difficult and the players provided tough competition, and the last thing you needed was little things like you ball in a divot, or a shot in the sand that someone forgot to rake, or having to putt through unfixed greens, to add up against you and maybe affect the outcome.
We’ve all been to a course and have had it happen to us, when we’ve hit a good shot right down the middle of the fairway with our Nike golf club or our Cobra golf driver, and you’re thinking that it can’t get any better, but as you approach your ball, you see that its landed right in a big divot in the grass. You can’t possibly hit a good shot now. Replacing divots is so easy to do, yet I think it is the least done of the many things players can do to keep the golf course in good condition. The last thing you want is for your ball to land in a divot, thereby messing up your next shot.
Always remember that there are other golfers at the course. I often reflect on taking a divot in the grass after my shot on whether I’d enjoy taking a shot from where I just swung. To say I’d be irritated is an understatement. If the divot is pretty much intact, and which is probably a couple of feet away, if not closer, I pick it up and tap it back in with my foot. You don’t find people doing it, though it’s so simple to do this.
Another big thing is the sand. I always rake the sand after I take a shot out from the bunker. The only thing that can make an already bad situation worse is when you’ve hit a shot into the bunker, and the sand is all messed up. Some people excel at sand shots and are really good at getting the ball out, but that all goes away when the sand isn’t raked. Again, common courtesy goes along way here. Sometimes it can be a bit of extra work, to go find the rake, and physically go over all the sand to make sure its smooth again, but just think about it. You’ve just hit a shot from there, so have some sympathy for the next poor soul, who finds their ball in the bunker.
Littering is yet another problem for no one likes to play in a course that’s messed up. Not only do I throw trash, food wrappers, bottles etc in the garbage bin, I even pick up trash that doesn’t belong to me. This particularly applies to all of us is it’s quite effortless and something everyone can participate in. How would you feel if you had to take your shot on top of a plastic bag or with a can of soda blocking your shot?
Another of my golf tips is to watch out for is keeping the green in good shape. Don’t drive the golf cart on the green, leaving track indentations and misshaping the green. When you putt from the green, see if your ball made a dent in the green when it landed. I repair the little dents with my putter or a putting tool. Putting is tough enough as it is without those dents or tracks messing you up.
These are the things I follow when on the course. Considering that there are other players on the course, and the importance of courtesy and keeping the course in good shape is always on my mind. Applying the Golden Rule is treat others the way you want to be treated is on the links goes a long way in keeping golf a gentleman’s game.

How Do You Know What Golf Club Fits You?
26. February 2009 by Tee It Up Pro Shop.
Golf started as early as 1297 in Netherlands.A stick and a leather ball is used by the players to play in that period. As time goes by different golf clubs emerged. Different sizes and different shapes of club head. If you are serious, you want to improve your golf game, knowing the right golf club is the best way to start.
Let me help you understand golf by understanding what golf club you need and how you can develop your swing with the use of your golf club.
I am telling you this early that you do not need to pay thousands of dollars for a golf club. Well, not until you are sure that your thousand-dollar golf club is what fits you.
How do you make sure which golf club fits you? Let us discuss first the characteristics of golf clubs before you decide which golf club you need.
What are the types of gold club?
Putter
Iron
Wood
Wedge
Driver
Putter
The putters job is merely to send the ball rolling. You do not need to employ as much strength here. Simple hit the ball to have it roll perpendicular to the hole.Simply stated, a putter’s job is to roll the ball at a short distance.
Iron
The weight is an issue here, although the iron has the same function as the wood with respect to reach but because of the different characteristics of players, the iron has more diversity of use as compared to the wood. The iron brings the ball as far as the wood but the iron similarly has the function of arcing the plight of the ball.
Wood
As mentioned the function of the wood is to bring the ball as far as possible. Thus, the club head of the wood is the biggest. Its main function is to bring the ball far, but the swing or the stroke may determine the direction of the ball.
Wedge
Mostly wedges are made of iron; one of its major functions is to play the ball in water or sand hazard. Again, there are many shapes of the wedge head; this is because each head may have a different function than the other.
Driver
The driver is mostly made of wood; the popular use of the driver is on the tee. You may find it difficult to use the driver on the tee but you may practice your swing and later on, you will be comfortable.
Of course, because different players have their different comfortable clubs, you may therefore need to recognize which one is yours and practice that particular club as much as you can.
The golf club may help you improve your game. It is therefore important that you are comfortable with your golf club and thus practice as much as you can. This is the only way to improve your game and your enjoyment in this strategic game.
Finally, yes, the choice of club is important but if you do not practice your swing on and off the green, it may be hard for you to lower your score and improve your handicap.
This game is not physically draining but it is strategic, it may help therefore that you find a mentor and your mentor will be able to guide you well into playing this game.
